Heavy-Duty & Triplewall Boxes
When the load is heavy, the stakes are high, or the freight is brutal - triplewall corrugated delivers the crush resistance, stacking strength, and burst performance to protect what matters.
When to Use It
Common industries and use cases where this box type performs best.
Heavy Machinery & Parts
Motors, gearboxes, castings, and fabricated steel ship safely in triplewall crates.
Export & Ocean Freight
Moisture-resistant triplewall replaces wood crating for ISPM-15-exempt export shipping.
Palletized Industrial Loads
High stacking strength holds column loads without bulging or failing under weight.
Automotive & Aerospace
Precision components, dies, and tooling packed in custom-fit heavy-duty corrugated.
Board Grades
ECT (Edge Crush Test) measures stacking strength. Mullen measures burst resistance. Use ECT for palletized loads; Mullen for rough handling.
| Grade | Mullen Burst | Description | Best For | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 44 ECT (SW) | 200 lbs | Baseline single wall. | Light industrial, max ~65 lbs | |
| 61 ECT (DW) | 350 lbs | Double wall. High edge crush. | Heavy industrial, up to ~150 lbs | |
| 82 ECT (TW) | 500 lbs | Triplewall. Exceptional rigidity. | Machinery, dense parts, export | Most Common |
| 112 ECT (TW) | 600+ lbs | Maximum triplewall specification. | Extreme loads, wood crate replacement | Industrial |
Flute Options
Flute profile determines thickness, stacking strength, and print quality. We stock all common flutes and produce custom combinations in-house.
BC Double Wall
Two-flute construction. Good stacking strength and puncture resistance for most heavy applications.
BE Double Wall
Combines B and E flute for a flatter print surface with double wall strength.
AAA Triplewall
Three layers of A-flute corrugation. Maximum crush and column load performance. The strongest corrugated available.
Max Sizes We Produce
All sizes produced in-house on our own equipment - no outsourcing, no lead-time surprises.
CNC vs. Steel Rule Dies
For short runs and custom sizes, the difference is significant. Here's why our CNC-first approach wins.
β CNC Cutting (APG)
- CNC routers cut triplewall cleanly without compressing or tearing the flute layers
- Custom cutouts for fork pockets, cable access, or component locating cut in the same pass
- No steel die can handle triplewall board - CNC is the only option for custom shapes
- Short runs of 10β50 custom heavy-duty boxes are economical with no tooling
- Scoring through thick board is precise - fold lines hit exactly where needed
β Steel Rule Dies
- Steel rule dies cannot effectively cut triplewall without crushing the board structure
- Press tonnage required for thick corrugated is rarely available at short-run shops
- Custom notches and access holes require multiple die passes or hand-routing
- Die wear is accelerated dramatically by thick, dense corrugated board
- Minimum quantities of 500+ units are typical just to justify tooling
