Rapid Packaging Prototyping
From a dimension sketch or CAD file to a physical sample - often same day. We prototype custom boxes and foam inserts in-house so you can test fit, function, and feel before production.
What It Is
Packaging prototyping at most manufacturers takes 1β2 weeks and costs hundreds in die fees. We do it in hours because our CNC-based process requires no tooling. You send dimensions or a file, we cut the sample, assemble it, and you have a real physical box to test your product in. If it needs changes, we update the file and cut a revised sample - sometimes the same day.
- Same-day samples from dimensions, sketches, or digital files
- No tooling cost on prototypes - pay for material and labor only
- Foam inserts prototyped alongside the box in one appointment
- Physical fit-test before any production commitment
- Revision cycles in hours, not days - iterate until it's right
When You Need It
New Product Launches
Validate packaging dimensions before your product hits the warehouse.
Engineering Sign-Off
Physical samples for drop testing, compression testing, or customer approval.
Custom Foam Fit Testing
Ensure foam pocket depth and tightness before committing to a foam run.
Retail Packaging Mockups
Show customers or buyers a real sample before placing a production order.
Compliance Testing
ISTA, ASTM, or internal drop-test samples built to spec for testing.
Design Iteration
Multiple design options cut and compared physically in one session.
Why APG Prototypes Faster
- No die fabrication - zero lead time between file and first cut
- In-house corrugated and foam means both components ready same day
- Design files updated in minutes - revised samples cut immediately after
- One vendor handles box and foam together - no coordination delays
- Local DFW clients can review samples in person the same day
- Prototypes use the same board and foam grades as production
